Oops, I said "Dogs be damned!"

You probably already read Lizzie Heiselt's Mother Runner blog because it's a daily fat-free treat, but if you don't you should and to start off you could read today's post:

Click here to check it out!

I was having a hard time getting back into running after nursing my aching feet for so long so I took the age old advice of exercising with a friend... except this advice never works for me since it is hard enough to get out the door with two little ones as it is and coordinating that with a friend or two = impossible for me (for some reason).

So, I did the next best thing and started using my buddy Lizzie as my own personal work-out log. It was so much fun. Here she is modeling the very shoes she got me interested in buying- in the very color and style I want! We met in Hawaii, we have boys the same age, do a lot of the same stuff, she has the Masters degree I would kill for from the University I would kill to go to (Masters in Journalism and Creative Writing from NYU. Yeah. It makes me feel all tingly inside just typing that.), she lives and runs in NYC now, and is just straight up cool.

Here's some of our correspondence from back then. Sorry for the flagrant disregard of proper grammar and syntax... I was just emailing off the cuff.

Writing her really helped me get out the door... as much, if not more, than buying aqua leggings. If that kind of insanity gets you out on a run too then dash on over to your nearest Forever 21 and get yourself a pair at like $4 a pop, but sorry, you'll have to find your own Dear Lizzie!

Space Party

So many pictures and good pals. Life's pretty good when you're four.

A million kids and their parents, America tattoos, a moon cake, rocket pinata, one giant Ambrose tantrum after the pinata broke too soon, flying saucer crafts, and cute faces blasting off to space in a rocket plus some seriously nasty space slime equals good times around here. Thanks for helping make Ambrose's day special everyone!

Weekend surprises

Prince Kuhio gave me the day off on Friday and we didn't have any special plans so we did what ever we wanted. That careless attitude followed us around all weekend. It was nice.

And then sadness happened. Here's the way Thomas told it on his family message board:

"Ambrose has had a little cold for a few days, but today his cough was pretty bad. Later in the day he started complaining that he couldn't breathe. His breathing was really labored, which is scary. So we monitored him for a while but his wheezing wasn't getting better, so we decided to take him to the ER. There have been a lot of cases of pneumonia around here, and a little girl in the ward even had to be hospitalized recently, so we didn't want anything to develop. It was so cute, and sad, to see him on the hospital bed in the ER. Anyway, they gave him a few treatments of albuterol, and some prednisone, and his breathing was back to normal. What a relief! Now he needs a follow up, and of course, I'm worried that this might be the onset of asthma, which would make me sad." We both had asthma as kids and sometimes Thomas still does. It's not the end of the world, but just isn't fun. Not what you want for your healthy little guy.

We're actually off to the doctors right now. Wish me and Darth Vader luck!
