Back from Utah
We are back from Utah. Sorry no blog since we left- I really had no access to the internet. Thomas got the internet on his phone so I could check my email but it would have taken WAY TOO LONG to write anything back. So, here I am a couple of days later for the couple of people who haven't given up in checking this. Hello!
Thomas and I took a bazillion photos while in Utah (and Las Vegas) of the millions of people, places and things we got to see, but Thomas is determined to wait until we go home on Tuesday to load it all...so I went onto flickr and found a delightful image of an asian man in utah to satisfy you until I can get the real deal up here (not that he isn't the real deal, am I right ladies??).
I wanted to make a list of all the people we saw while we were on vacation in Las Vegas and Utah, but then I got afriad that I would miss someone and that someone would happen to read this and say, "Oh my gosh, she forgot she saw me! Well, she can forget the mini snow cone maker I was going to send her for Christmas this year!" and then I reminded myself that I might be giving myself too much credit, so here it goes:
Greg, Nancy, Allison, and Courtney Hazard
Grandma Hill
Ashley Hawkins
Grandpa Hawkins
Grandma and Grandpa Olson
Tim, Amy, Gideon, Darius, and Addison Robertson
Will, Whittney, Trey (sp?), and Lilly Phillips
Kristine and David Forsythe
Pat and Natalie Shields
Donna Hill
David, Morgan, Samantha, Rosemary, and Adam Grow (and Adam's girlfriend)
Nate and Julie Frederickson (I dont think I spelled that last name right)
Melissa Stricklan
David J. Hawkins
Jacob, Chrissy, Eliza, Daniel and Rainey Roecker
Liz and Caleb Ryskamp
Brady, Rachel, Tayson, and Camden Whetton
J, Christy, and Evelyn Brown
Martin's house (no one home)
Adam, Brittany, Jackson, Bennett, Isaac Greene
anyone bored yet? did I forget someone.... let's just say- for a few short days we saw a lot of people and our poor baby's schedule was completely thrown off by all the fun, but he handled it really well. He smiled and chatted at all the right times and ate more than I thought a baby could consume (he must have been going through some sort of growth spurt... I nursed in front of nearly everyone. more than once. with a blanket though, relax.)
I also celebrated my 23rd birthday so I am nearly old enough to have a child now. :) Ok, I thought about this the morning of my birthday (super early as I was feeding the piglet)- I am young to have a baby, but I consider this age to be a pretty difinitive time in a person's life. People make a lot of choices at this age that shape who they will be. I have spent a lot of my life having it pretty easy and although having Ambrose is not the hardest thing in the world- I still think it is pretty neat that I am needing to put someone else's needs before my own at this stage in my life. I certainly don't think it will hurt me in the long run. I don't think it's for everyone right now, but for me it is just right. Just something I thought about- do whatever with it.
Well, that's all for now. There will be photos someday and we head back to Hawaii on Tuesday. Thanks for the visits and well wishes around my birthday!

I am so glad I got included in the list. I was holding off on your birthday present, but I guess I will have to get you one now.
HAHA! No remember, we were just going to forget each other's birthdays and call it even? But, you are in Europe... when in Rome. (I have always wanted to say that and it kind of fits here.)
The Asian man is a hottie. Nice. Happy Birthday and I must say that I agree with what you said about being a mom at this time in our lives. I think the majority of people think that we are too young and that we need to discover who we are before marriage and children. However, like you, I beilieve that is through my relationships with Andrew and Eliza that I see clearly who I want to become because as you said, they make life more challenging (in a good way) and help me to become more selfless... You said it so much better than I just did!
YAHOO! We made the list.
I am glad you had fun and I hope you cna get the piglet on a schedule again soon. Life is much happier then.
Safe flight home.
And Happy birthday
You can return home to Oahu but Ambrose is staying here with us in Bakersfield.
I am so glad you had a great trip! I can't wait to see lots of pictures! You will have to come see us in Monterey sometime.
noticeably absent from the list...
sigh.
I felt the void as well... :)
