our dear friend mike (bille's husband) did our christmas card photo shoot for us and i must have been taking crazy pills that morning because despite the fact that i knew ambrose would be wanting a nap when we got there and that he is majorly teething (FOUR are busting through on the top!!) i still decided to forge ahead and get them done, and well, the results are in and it's not looking so great for little ambrose. mike did a great job with composition, poses, setting...etc. and thomas and i look fabulous in them if i do say so myself, and we all tried to do anything we could think of to get ambrose to cooperate (my favorite was when mike starting joining in on the chorus of "Im Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee") but i think five out of the billion photos taken that day have ambrose actually looking at the camera and/or not glaring. as for the rest of the photos, let's just sum ambrose's poses up in a few adjectives: bored, irritated, unimpressed, teething, teething, distracted, teething, jack nicholson, hungry (those were slightly inappropriate), and... umm...teething. so, we could have sent out any one of the beautiful photos mike took and it would have been great- but we decided instead to send a beautiful photo of me and thomas with a baby who has a finger in his mouth. it's actually really cute, and trust me, it could have been a lot worse. thanks for humoring us mike- you are a talented guy and i am impressed that you were able to get us some really great shots under those unfortunate circumstances. :) mele kalikimaka everyone. here are some of the photos that didnt make the cut.

Ahhh! They are so great- if only, if only. oh well.
Stay tuned for the finalists... and please do email me your address if you would like the one we settled on- it's lovely.

hahahahahahahaha
i heart ambrose's cranky face. in ways i think it's more charming than any smile you could coax out of him. do you still have my address or do i need to send it to you again? because i definitely want one.
p.s. i almost forgot to mention how SKINNY you look in all of these pictures! fab-o, friend!
i said it before and i will say it again. your gams look great in those jeans!
i believe i still have your address boo- i will call you if i dont.
thanks for the skinny comments you two... who wouldnt want to hear that? :)
Oh the joys of kids and family photos! I love the second one for the bottom- just my opinion! Jen
i reallly love the second one from bottom---you are a beautiful, sniffle, family
...but how ironic that the most beautiful, photogenic boy wouldn't cooperate--thomas you should know better (batta bing)
Stephanie,
I was just thinking that I wish I were as skinny and cute as you! Not fair! Not to mention living in Hawaii rather than Idaho! I love your family pictures. Ambrose still looks like a doll either way!
Looking at your pictures makes me so happy that I have a little chunk like Simon so that I don't have to covet your little Ambrose chunk.
we actually almost used the second to the bottom photo- because it is cute and the composition is so nice (way to go again mike!) with the sand jutting around the ocean there... but being the control freak that i am i changed my mind at the last second because i thought some people would be like, "you cant even see what ambrose looks like! his head is turned!!"-- i do LOVE it though... it's one for the family scrapbook for sure (once we get a family scrapbook someday that is- haha).
Very cute pictures!! And you do look skinny...you'll have to let me in on the secret. You look so warm in the pictures...I am jealous of your Hawaii weather. The only good Christmas picture we got of Dane, Cale and I both had our eyes closed. Our friend used photoshop to move his head. Kind of freaky, but it looks ok!!
I love the one where he is the bucking bronco arching his back in protest. How do your skinny little arms hold up such a wonder boy? Annie mcgee: you must eat. Eat like there's no tomorrow.
Those pics are really good that your friend took...it makes me miss Hawaii so much! And Ambrose does have some funny faces:)
Stephanie, you are so beautiful! You look so youthful but mature. I can only pray I'll look as carefree if I ever - in the DISTANT future - have a child (!) It's just cool and inspirational to see you being such an awesome mom. The boys look great too. Ambrose is hilarious!
I also loved the second from the bottom picture. I think that is mostly engagement pictures that people would comment on that way. I am excited to see the one that won.
Your adjectives used to describe Ambrose in these pictures are exactly the ones I would chose. :)
I'm loving the 7th one down! I really like the colors+composition--the curve of the beach in the background. And of course the fact that you're all smiling and ambrose has a cute grin but looking off in the distance. It looks like it's from a magazine or it should be.
seriously love it.
Oh my cute. I love number 7... I think it will be on my desktop for a while... You are cute... teething sucks.
