im dreaming of a white christmas, or at least living in a dream land pretending it's christmas

press play and enjoy while reading:

hey mama, it's about that time of year!

when i was younger, starting at about age 13 and ending with my last christmas at home, my mom and i watched bing crosby's and danny kaye's white christmas
every sunday from thanksgving-ish time right up until christmas day. sometimes we would wander away and get things done during the movie and sometimes we would stay glued to the screen. i liked sensible betty (rosemary clooney) but the dancer in me wanted to grow up and be just like her younger sister judy (vera-ellen). man could those little legs tap, and dance, and glide across a stage! i just knew i would be just as good as her when i grew up... haha :) wouldn't it be awesome if we all actually became what we thought we just had to be when we were younger? there would be a lot of actresses/professional ballerinas, astronauts, firemen, and professional athletes... what an unbalanced and hilarious world. :)

anyway, i hear vermont is beautiful this time of year... all that snow ... (from the movie) but hawaii is too. it's kind of stormy today and although it's not sunday i find myself wanting to curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and my mama while we watch white christmas and let the day lazily drift by...

today i am thankful for my mom (isn't she lovely? that's betty hawkins for you, at one of her favorite places: disneyland doing one of her favorite things: holding a grandchild: my precious nephew isaac) who always made the most of holidays and made them special for us. i have wonderful memories because of her charm, hard work (that i didnt realize was hard work until i became a mom), and her sense of fun and ability to make special traditions that are still important to her family.

I've found myself singing Christmas songs to Raegan ever since I went to Utah and saw the snow! Now I can't stop and Christmas can't come fast enough!!

I just might have to bust out a classic Christmas movie too!!

OH that was a treat {listening to that music} Now you made me crave those christmas feelings all the time. Would it be cheating if I put just a small strand of christmas lights up in our house?

by the way, your mom IS pretty. She looks like fun.

During the holidays Dan morphs into Clark W. Griswold complete with ugly christmas sweaters and egg nog drinking habit. I become a decorating obsessed zombie that MUST watch muppets christmas carol at least once a day. I love that you love christmas.

I also love that you read my blog. I'm pretty sure you and Choob's grandparents are my only readers. So this thanksgiving I am thankful FOR YOU...my faithful reader. way to go. The right thing to say would be,"I hope you don't feel the pressure to comment on my blog all the time now." but you know me...feel the heat lady!

Well we've known for quite some time now, sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I wanted to, but we just finally told family last night. If my brother didn't live here I probably just would have waited till we went to Utah for Christmas. I thought that would be fun. I just have this idea that the longer I wait to tell the shorter the time period everyone else will have to wait till the baby comes. Since we'll know almost the whole time and it will probably drag out, I figured it might as well be a short wait for someone. Since they live here though, I just wanted to get through my first dr.'s appt. to hear the heartbeat and know everything is going okay, before telling anyone. We just had that last week. However my brother annouced about 4 weeks ago that they are expecting but not till the end of June (I thought for sure they would wait longer to annouce this time around), so then I just felt bad for announcing that we are expecting a month and a half before them and I dreaded announcing at all. Let's just say I felt bad the last time I had to announce that to them, but we were only a week ahead of them that time. Sorry, longer answer than you were expecting.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes, Christmas wouldn't be the same without watching "White Christmas." I still cry when the general walks into the big ballroom and all of his former troops yell "Surprise." I haven't given up on being the sassy little Judy. I still tap dance around the house once in awhile!
Love to my baby girl.

i still watch it too steph although there is not much support for it around here with 4 boys and me. two christmases ago when my mother-in-law was here at christmas time i held her hostage with it and somehow got the feeling she didn't think it was as amazing as i had made it out to be. i was so confused....

I love White Christmas, too. I have to watch it several times every year!
