calling all campers!

found here

thomas and i were driving a lot last weekend- here's what we did as written by thomas on his family website:
"We have been trying to get out early on Saturdays to run errands or do something fun. Today we thought we'd go on the Makapu'u lighthouse trail, since it is stroller friendly. When we got there it was too windy for Asher (he kept getting startled and gulping for an easy breath, poor boy) so we decided to find the Hawaii Kai Costco to get some car mats for our van. We heard they had good mats, but unfortunately we couldn't find them there. So we just had Costco pizza and figured we'd find a park to play at. Both kids fell asleep on the way so we just drove home. Despite it all we seemed to have fun."

SO yeah, although it seemed like nothing happened , we had a bunch of fun because we were driving in our beloved van and feeling like we were on a roadtrip which may seem tricky on an island.... but nevertheless that is what it felt like and it was fun! we drove past a camp site in waimanalo and well.....

that's a loooong introduction to announce my formal request: for anyone who wants to join us on a camping trip, possibly at this fun place in waimanalo, very very soon. like maybe not this friday night but maybe the next or the one after that.

we figure, we have a good sized family now and so it is time to start making some memories like this and the rainy season is only gonna get worse so we gotta expect some rain but go SOON!

it will be a friday evening til sat. and then go home so we can spend sat. night in our own beds and get up for church in the morn. so just a one night deal with smores, hot chocolate, a yummy camping-type dinner (you know what im talking about right?), maybe a kid craft of some sort, and lots of running around and adventures.

even if it ends up raining and we sleep in the van- it'll still be fun.... we hope. :)

you in?

We would LOVE LOVE LOVE to! You are so awesome for suggesting it. Our poor little family needs some memories and new things to look forward to!

i'll talk it over with the hubby and see what he says. random, but lately, my kids have been asking if we are going camping. need to dig out our stuff and assess the situation.
and i love thomas' post. typical life of a family with little ones. been there, done that. still there.

I'm going this friday! 'tis the season, I guess.

Some of our favorite memories of camping are when our tent flooded and our air mattress floated and we ran out of wood so we were freezing... haha catastrophes can be as fun as successful camping trips!

We're in -- we actually decided to rent a car and camp during our trip. So let us know how your outing goes, and plan another one for when we're there. I just got the flights confirmed today!

i'm not going to mention my envy of those who can go with you; instead, i'll mention how stinking awesome that camping picture is. where do you find these things? love.

So many of my happiest memories are from camping/backpacking/roadtripping with my family. I think such things are crucial.

Wish we were there to join you guys. We LOVE camping, including the boys. Baylee will get her first experience in a few weeks, but I'm pretty sure she'll love it as much as her brothers did at her age. Love of camping seems to come ingrained in our children. Is that possible? Have lots of fun for us!!! what fun memories to start making, especially with your cute little boys. I am so grateful that it is so green and beautiful here, like Hawaii so we can have almost as beautiful of scenery as you guys.
