here he is smiling in between chomps in front of the tree:

today was the first day of the season where we could pick more than one and, well, see for yourself:
here's a look from underneath the tree- look closely- those arent leaves (well, there are some leaves)- but mostly that's just a TON of starfruit!

see the star shape:

pure joy:

we normally slice the spines off and then cut them up into pieces, you can see the star shape better this way and it makes for a tidier eating experience, but this little boy just heads under the tree,
selects one for himself, picks it, and takes a seat under the lilikoi to chomp away, juice running down his hands and arms:
oh to be two again. :) except for when i was two i didnt know what starfruit was... let alone eat four in one hour.... wait, he just came in the room with another one... five. yikes! guess i better go make dinner.

haha!! star fruit brings me back to my childhood days on the big island. my mom's uncle has a really old tree and the juicy, big, sweet ones are the best!!! ambrose looks so happy with them!!
simple pleasures are the best!

That makes me smile the biggest grin ever. That is pure.happiness. I wonder if the ones we get on the mainland are as good as yours..?
That last picture is so cute! It looks like it should be the cover of a book or something.
Your own starfruit tree?! I miss Hawaii for natural fruit havens like mangoes, papayas, plumerias, limes, coconuts.... Ahh, enjoy!
I.Am. So. Jealous!!! I love starfruit and it's at least a few dollars just to buy ONE here in the stores. Please tell Ambrose to enjoy a few hundred for me this season. Thanks.
mmm... starfruit = yummy. and ambrose's little joyous face is even more delicious (although jesse tells me it's inappropriate to call babies/children delicious).
it was the robertsons that introduced me to star fruit as well. yummm
