and this sturdy little nugget along with it's accompanying lo-fi technology should render images close to the likes of these i borrowed from flickr for your viewing pleasure:

i'm excited. i think it will be fun to try this out with some good old fashioned film and to use thomas' editing program as we get the images scanned in or put on a disk right away. hooray for trying something new.
oh yes, spunky chub can scoot around the house with near perfect agility now and has learned to clap and mimic sounds we make. he is seriously the most fun ever. i'm not just saying that because i spend 24/7 with him and am completely biased.

What is a lomo?
Love,
your un-cool friend that has no idea what the item you have purchased does.
PS-please don't block me for being so lame
here's what urban outfitters has to say about the lomo- but i didnt order from them since they didnt have the deluxe sweety sweet package i ended up buying:
Emerging from the quasi-mythical Soviet Arms and Optical factory in 1982, the original LC-A (Lomo Compact Automat) was equal parts revelation and revolution. A compact, zone focused camera with on-point automatic exposure timing, the LC-A was sturdy and easy to use. But beyond that, far surpassing any and all expectations, the little camera produced unique and breathtaking images with rich color, long depth of field and natural vignetting at the corners. Because of this built-in artistry, the LC-A's popularity spread, and it became a favorite of discriminating photographers everywhere. But supplies ran short, and they became increasingly difficult to find. Thankfully, Lomo has answered the call, not only bringing back the LC-A, but also improving upon the original design and adding new features. The Lomo LC-A+ retains the zone focusing and automatic exposure timing that we all know and love. And like the original, it shares the same brilliant multicoated Minitar 1 32/2.8 lens, compact and robust metal body and flash hotshoe. On top of that, the LC-A+ now offers a Multiple Exposure switch, expanded film ISO setting to 1600, and a cable release thread. The New LC-A+ comes packaged in a wooden case with 2 rolls of 100 ISO film, a cable release, and booklets that are bursting with information. Don't think, just shoot!
Stephanie
All of this lomo talk makes you sound truly sophisticated. I am impressed and excited to see the outcome of your pictures. Spunky Chub is so cute... I love that smile. How's the baby proof coming along? I took my sweet time on that...
we got some little plastic things that go on the cupboards so they dont open very easily and we have tried to hide things or limit their availability, but honestly it is hard to do in a studio apartment. it is kind of like a game! (a sort of annoying game... ) :)
Steph, I miss you! I love the pictures of the babe. We're headed to Bakersfield for turkey day.
love, your tummy twin
I feel ripped off! Wacky wild Kool-Aide style is so my phrase! I guess since I haven't used it in about 20 years I should be willing to share.
You will probably have another run in with homeland securtiy because
you bought a lomo. The evidence is stacking up on you and thomas.
Good job on trying something new, and what a cool camera! You deserve it little miss hard worker.
I've always thought it'd be fun to get the Holga camera cause I heard it's kinda unpredicatable and takes crazy pics--That'd be fun. Anyway, I can't wait to see the pics from this one!
I am really jealous about the new camera. I can't wait to see what it can do. Also I need your email address so...
wow, look out! i didn't think it was possible because i worship the ground you walk on, but you and thomas just got even cooler! i'm going to start calling you the photogertsons.
also i wished you had lomie when you took all of the photos of me pregnant with myra--that wide angle would have come in handy...
