honolulu zoo

It was $4 per adult, it was fun, it was matti's birthday, and later on that night it was hilarious to me to imagine that we were four feet away from actual real life zebras, giraffes, and hippos and we were just walking around staring at them like it's an everyday thing, and planning what we will have for lunch next.

Oh yeah, Thomas decided we didn't have a recent family portrait so he took one. Can you guess who is what animal? Your options are in the animal category (in case you couldn't tell already): giraffe, otter, zebra and in the people category: thomas, stephanie, ambrose. This is all according to the imagination of T-Rob.

I love the family portrait! LOL Jake used to think of us as fruit and veggies. He was a tomato, I was a cucumber and Liza was a sweet pea. I would make her a string bean now and swap the cucumber and tomato idea. I would have to think hard about the boys, maybe a blueberry and a banana.

Love the photos of a day at the zoo!

Stumbled across your blog and wanted to tell you that it was great catching up on what you guys have been up to. It seems like a dream to live in Hawaii (especially since it is frigid cold where we are) Your son is precious, and you guys look like you are doing great!!

Otter: Thomas
Giraffe: Stephanie
Zebra: Ambrose
Am I close?

Also, we are in the market to buy a new camera. I have quite the interest in photography, though am not skilled or schooled in any way. It seems y'all would be good people to seek for advice on what camera to get. Suggestions?

oh yeah and stef! we really like nikons. cannons are good too. a lot of people like the cannon rebel- nice quality and not too hard to learn. thomas learned on the nikon d40 and great camera and now has a nikon d80- little more complicated and also way awesome.

I really should just call you or talk to you in person ... I want something that has options for manual or automatic, and that can do the amazing things your can (looks like different lenses maybe??) I'm definately a novice now but hope to become quite the photographer and would like a camera that can grow with me. Would both the Nikon d40 and/or Cannon Rebel do that?

yeah i think so. i dont know as much about it as thomas does though. i think d40 is pretty simple - but you might want to google some reviews.
