sometimes i cry about my job

and whine that i dont want to do it anymore and list all of the people i know who get to stay home with their kids and not drive around an island all day with an impatient toddler to meet with people who are having their routines interrupted to meet with me for a few minutes while i ask them a bunch of random questions and nervously keep one eye on said toddler and then do mundane billing and other technicalities at night after everyone's asleep.

whew. did anyone just read that and then consequently start singing:

"You do it to yourself, you do
And that's what really hurts
Is that you do it to yourself
Just you and no-one else
You do it to yourself
You do it to yourself"

:) radiohead had it right. i did. i do all the time.

but then i have good days, great weeks, and long runs and think,

nah, i have a really really great life.

pictures to come.

The two good parts that stuck out to me are:

1. Ambrose gets to go with you on your outings. Some of the best 'conversations' (I use that word loosely) I have with Eliza are in the car.

2. You're driving around an ISLAND. :)

if i may quote the poster of the dangling kitty that i'm sure is above your desk, "hang in there." i am anxious to see what kinds of pictures go along with this post...

ahhhh yes, i have felt that painful ring of truth when listening to that very radiohead song. but in your case, you should be applying it with regard to all the awesome things you have going for you---your responsible for those things also, and speaking of responsible, when it comes down to it, that's just what you are. which is why you still have that job you sometimes hate. you're so count-on-able, and you're willing to subject yourself to extensive suffering (ie trying to manage a two year old and your clients) just because you committed at some point that you would. i have immense respect for your integrity. that being said, i wouldn't respect you any less if you quit =).

My only question is... Does it help pay some bills? And not many people have a job where they can take their kids with them so that is awesome! Hang in there... maybe once you have another baby you will just quit for good!

You are so expert at what you do, I thought we were just having fun hanging out but you were working -- going around all day and I thought it was such a huge coincidence we saw those clients of yours that we saw the year before when I visited. Silly me! You're good. You are.

Hang in there Steph. I don't envy your position. I can relate to the good/bad of working with your kids by your side. It is SOOOO much harder than working without your kids. You are doing a great job. I'm definitely glad I don't have to do that anymore though, finally I feel some sanity coming back, SLOWLY!

serial, though, i feel the same way and my life and job are super easy. just today though, when asked to answer an unanswerable billing question, i (almost) screamed, "I AM NOT AN ACCOUNTANT! I HAVE A DEGREE IN ENGLISH SO GET OFF MY BACK!"

Yes, but then there are us mothers who stay at home who are jealous of your nice car, and the fact that someone pays you to drive around the island. Dianna is right though, you are very dependible. Don't be so hard on yourself. I too am very excited to see the photos that go with this blog. That's odd. The word verification I am supposed to type is "ojasm". Makes me kind of uncomfortable. Maybe I'll ask for a new word. ;-)

I too have cried those same tears. Well, not actual tears (due to my heart of stone) but the thought was there. I am sorry I got you into this mess. But damn it's nice when the paycheck comes in huh? Always remember this: things could be worse....you could be slicing meat for a living while your kid and hubby party all night watching star wars and eating 99cent double cheeseburgers. Go Team Kehoe.

PS~ HOw is baby CJ? Sometimes that little butterball and his gold chain pop into my mind and I get a smile.

yeah jobs bite. I sometimes i get so tired of my job that i want to cry and have a couple of times cried at my job when some stressed parent yells at me yet again because their child is sick and their pediatrician didn't give them the correct. yeah i know it is sad and stressful but so not MY fault. so yeah i am with you.
