Ladies of the Society! Let's make a resolution!

To be more creative in 2011!

image
I went about six months not making a thing and it wasn't any fun. All of a sudden I am finding big and small ways to be more creative. We are on a tight budget (isn't everyone?) so the phrase, "Make do and mend" has been my mantra lately.

It's easier than you think. Haven't been wearing that one pair of pants because you lost the button?
Put a random one on and give it some flare:

Kid's chair scraping your bamboo floor every time they scoot it around?
Hand stitch felt on the bottom:

Bam. Problem solved. Oh, and maybe fix the top that's falling apart while you're at it...

Husband gone recording drums for hours upon hours and the kids are in bed?
Piece a new family quilt instead of browsing lame, stupid Facebook for hours!

Need some motivation? Browse crafty blogs that rule school or make a sewing mix to hum and stitch to. Mine is playing on this here blog right now and it kept me pumped all night as I designed, cut, sewed, ironed and squared out a quilt top and bottom. Magic.

Who's with me?

Let's get crafty together this Monday (Jan 3) after your kids are in bed!

I'm gonna start sewing around 7:30. See you then!

Ooh, I wanna come! I have some projects in the pipe for little Miss Penelope's birthday. We'll see if any of them actually happen...

I vow to sew the holes in my husband's coat! p.s. When I wrote that Anne Frank post, I thought to myself, if anyone is going to comment it's going to be Stephanie. It was wonderful/sad visiting her house! It's better than any museum i've ever been to (and that includes the Louvre) and it didn't even have any furniture in it. Another Resolution: Read her diary! I only read part of it and so long ago...p.s. I bet you love Number the Stars!? You do, don't you?

It's a deal!!! I've slowly started being crafty again and I'm LOVING it! I currently have 8 pairs of babylegs that have been cut and pinned and are waiting for some attention. Monday night I'm doing it!!! The Secret Society Lurker is crafting once again! (ps...I just gave myself that title)

sweet! i actually have been sewing again, too. i made a skirt a few weeks ago, and i made a muslin for a pair of jeans i'm going to make. i bought the pattern when i was pregnant for my old size, so they're still a little (ahem, lot) small, so i think i'm going to wait a few more weeks to see if they'll fit better. :) positive thinking. i'll keep you updated if you keep us updated! xxoo

ps i'm reading helen keller's autobio.

I wanna join! I;ll have to get me a sewing machine, some creativity, and a little time to myself in the evenings. Might be a while until I get over to your house to craft with you, but I'm there in spirit.
