oh good!

today i am thankful for voting and democracy and our wonderful country and i'll admit it- it feels good to finally have voted for the winner!!!

he is someone i can get behind and feel excited about and he is from hawaii, awesome.

i teared up a little as i marked his name on the ballot earlier this morning and i teared up a little as i heard mccain's speech tonight (blame it all on the pregnancy hormones). i liked mccain, and he gave a wonderful speech (dont like the hockey mom though... good riddance lady).

now on to the next step- what will obama do with our country. it will be very interesting to be a part of and i am excited for the future.

Stephanie, you rock! I think he will do a good job as president too!

Being in the military I have a considerably different perspective on our new president-elect. Pending loosing my job, I can't say much more.

He has 0 time in uniform.
He refused to talk to soldiers while campaigning--and will probably continue to ignore those fighting and dying for the right to vote.

I fear that I can look forward to NO pay raises to keep up with inflation. New equipment developed to increase military performance and safety will not be purchased. I've learned this from the Clinton era where our vests that were supposed to protect us from projectiles were susceptible to a #2 led pencil--no joke.

I appreciate our democracy for the freedom and variety of opinions within our nation. Without it our nation would not survive. I anticipate Obama's years looking like a combination of the Carter & Clinton administrations.

Sorry to offend your readers with my opinion. Issues like this are so complex there is no one right answer.

audra- thanks! (and right back at ya)

cousin jacob- my blog really isnt the kind of blog where i lay out long heated debates or take the time to address long heated comments point by point. it's more positive in nature generally. i am sorry if you feel upset, and i'll just leave that at that because although i feel nervous for obama (a lot of people expect a lot of things out of him now and who knows if he can deliver since our country is in such a mess on several fronts) i still like him, trust him and am happy he won. those who didnt want him to cant do anything about it now so let's hope for the best shall we? oh and i agree that there is no one right answer- very complex indeed.

as previously stated i really like mccain, and i told thomas i felt sad for him and he said, "you are such a mom" (in a loving way).

ash- i totally agree!

melissa- we must have commented at the same time! haha- it is good to know that i am not alone in my tearing up. i looked over at thomas and saw no such reaction and had to laugh at myself :)

hey we DO think alike. What great minds!
No matter who won, no one is perfect and they can only become more perfect with full support of his countrymen behind him.

I think he is going to have a tough year with all economic mess we are in now, and it may take a while before universal health care and steps towards our idealism kick in, but I fully support him and Biden.

It is so good to know that I had a friend that has the same opinion as me I think he is the right choices and I cried last night too. I really can't help to think about the history of the African people and it has come a long way.

it's like i told jesse yesterday:

i didn't necessarily vote FOR obama (i get excited about him and nervous about some of his policies at the same time); i mostly voted AGAINST sarah palin.

sorry, but it's true. if she is the face of the new republican party, i am officially out (excluding the senator, of course. he is always IN, in my book).

please pass that on to karl rove-- or whichever fear-monger is now raping the party system.

(sorry, was the rape reference too strong? i didn't mean to offend anyone; i have apparently just been holding that disappointment in for too long...)

While of course I voted for McCain, I am still a little interested about what is going to happen now with Obama. After his speech I am definitely willing to give him a chance. He seems like he really does want things to be better. I am just worried about a few of his plans to do that though...

In all honesty, I was so worried about Prop 8 that I hardly noticed the presidential race. :-)

Ditto! I am excited to have a commander in chief who respects
his country, servicemen, and his own family. January can't come soon enough!
Oh, and congrats on the baby-to-come!
